LONDON – Singer Jessie J has confirmed she has undergone surgery for breast cancer and is now recovering at home while awaiting her results, she announced in a candid social media post Monday night.
The 37-year-old star, known for hits like “Price Tag,” shared an intimate series of photos and videos from her hospital stay, which she described as showing “the honest lows and highs of the last 48 hours.” In the post, she thanked her doctor, surgeon, and “all the nurses who cared for me.”
True to her promise to “always show the good and hard bits of any journey,” the post included a video of her singing from her hospital bed before the procedure, as well as a lighthearted clip where she joked that a bottle of blood drained from her breast looked like a “goji berry smoothie.” The singer also shared photos of her partner, Chanan Safir Colman, and their young son visiting her at the hospital.
The Essex-born singer first revealed her early-stage breast cancer diagnosis at the beginning of June, receiving a wave of support from fans and fellow artists for her openness.
She fulfilled a commitment to perform at Capital’s Summertime Ball at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 15 before undergoing the planned surgery. During the performance, she told the massive crowd it would be her “last show before I go and beat breast cancer.”
The singer is now resting and has asked for privacy as she awaits the results of the surgery.
